On a rainy day

I tried to take photos of flowers in the rain.

Only two are passable...not easy to keep the camera steady when I had to hold an umbrella as well...

And some older shots...

Dolphin key chain

Found a dolphin key chain that had been buried in the chaos of stuff inside my home. It remains intact, color still vivid. So small, so delicate, so beautiful that I took some photos of it.

Beautiful.

Just a soliloquy. No one would see this post.

Photo of a bee

I checked recently and realized I haven't updated this blog for almost three years (!). In this gap I only occasionally went out with my camera, and the photos that I thought were okay were shared on my line's timeline only. Didn't feel like to share photos on two platforms.

I still like to take photos of living things, life is beautiful.

I will try to update this blog more often, I hope.

This photo was taken on a fine and hot day recently at the same park I liked hanging out a lot. Hope you enjoy this, and I hope I would post more photos here.

Trees...and stuff

I went to a local park and tried to find something to shoot. I walked around and then saw leaves that shaped almost like hearts, and a tree with long and very large roots. Sorry if the images are blurry. I haven't taken a simple picture in nearly two months. And I didn't bring out my camera as often as I used to in the past.

I remember that a few years ago I made frequent visit to an Aviary where I photographed birds in there first and then identified them later, using the bird guide provided. I remember those Java Rice Birds, Red Lory, Rainbow Parakeet, and spotted doves.

It all seems so long ago now. Yet it also feels like those were just yesterday.

I remember seeing photos that conveyed that tranquility of nature and felt touched. Then I thought, the photographers behind those photos had found their styles. And I hadn't really found mine. I hadn't produce photos that would instantly be recognized as mine...so far.

So I guess I will try to look harder for things to shoot, to try to find my style, my way of presenting what I see.

Flowers

Except for the first shot, all were taken after the rain. And I wished the butterfly in the last photo here were more colorful...just saying.

Colors

Two recent images, taken on a fine day with my camera pointed up to the sky. Happy New Year.

An old shot...plus some random thoughts

Above is an image I took a few years back, I was quite interested in long exposure and zoom burst (zooming in or out after clicking the button) those days. I remember going here and there whenever I felt like to, set up my tripod, mount my camera, set the exposure time, click, and then wait to see what I would get. Sometimes, I would have overexposed images that were bad, sometimes I got something that looked okay.

Now this just seems like distant memories and I actually need to think hard to recall how I did long exposure. So very long ago.

As time goes by, some memories would fade. Either that would be memories about the good and pleasant things, or those about stuff that one would rather not to remember, and I don't think we can have much control over what we remember, or what we forget.

I don't know if this is a premonition of some sort or not. These two days I just came to think that in life there are happy moments, and there are sad moments as well. Sometimes, bad things would just happen, when they do, it's often when one's not prepared. Hope I'm just thinking too much.

Birds

Just found some old images of birds in my other SD card that was left idle for four years...and I took some more photos of birds with it recently.

First Entry in 2014

Thought I got this koi okay...
And guess one of the worst things for users of a certain brand is that the brand no longer exists. A recent blog post at RiceHigh's Pentax Blog said exactly that. My first and only DSLR is Pentax K10D, and I'm still using it. I have three Pentax lenses, been thinking about getting a DA 300mm, yet I never saved enough for it...feeling quite dumbfounded.

Last Update for 2013

Okay, for the most part of 2013, my camera and lenses have been sitting idly in the box. And as the year is about to pass, I took them out again. This time the subject was plants.

I started off with some bright red flowers:
Then I went for green leaves:
And I spotted this:
Then I tried to photograph bamboo leaves--a subject not as easy as I thought. The leaves grow in all directions and in close cluster, I went from one bamboo tree to another until I found one with leaves that were not messy:
And finally, some more red flowers:

Camera: Pentax K10D
Lens: Pentax 50 Macro

Happy 2014.

So it's December already...

So it's December already, and I start seeing decorations here and there. Although birds remain my favorite photography subject, in this entry I'd post something else:
Saw this at a local park, just to mark the occasion.

And here's a bird, Alexander Parakeet.

Tree Sprout

Probably I was lucky to be in the right place, at the right time and had my camera with me...sort of. If I had more time, I might be able to produce an image better than this. But I had only one shot before I got to move on.

I saw a big tree which truck had been cut down awhile ago I guess, and there were tree sprouts springing up from the remainder of that tree.

What drew me to this smaller, and newer sprout instead of the other one nearby was that to me, this sprout embodied the resilience of that tree better.
