Last Update for 2013

Okay, for the most part of 2013, my camera and lenses have been sitting idly in the box. And as the year is about to pass, I took them out again. This time the subject was plants.

 I started off with some bright red flowers:

Then I went for green leaves:

And I spotted this:

Then I tried to photograph bamboo leaves--a subject not as easy as I thought. The leaves grow in all directions and in close cluster, I went from one bamboo tree to another until I found one with leaves that were not messy:

And finally, some more red flowers:

So it's December already...

So it's December already, and I start seeing decorations here and there. Although birds remain my favorite photography subject, in this entry I'd post something else:

Saw this at a local park, just to mark the occasion.

Tree Sprout

Probably I was lucky to be in the right place, at the right time and had my camera with me...sort of. If I had more time, I might be able to produce an image better than this. But I had only one shot before I got to move on.

I saw a big tree which truck had been cut down awhile ago I guess, and there were tree sprouts springing up from the remainder of that tree.

What drew me to this smaller, and newer sprout instead of the other one nearby was that to me, this sprout embodied the resilience of that tree better.

New Leaves

Months after I last took out my Pentax to snap away a few shots, I finally felt like taking photographs again. This time the subject was: new leaves. Not a good shot, I admit! And the rest are even less presentable. Time to take photos more often...

The photo below was taken awhile ago, today when I looked through my backlog and spotted this one. Thought the light made it look great.

Locks

Took some photos of locks recently, not for any particular reasons except that they might serve as some symbols--safeguarding someone's private property, letters, or--memories of what might soon be gone forever.

A few Java Finches

These birds are just so cute that I could hardly keep my camera off them when they appeared. It felt like I had struck gold when four such birds sat close to one another and thus I got the opportunity to try photograph them in a group.

Just got some recent bird shots ready. :) Been a long while since I last went to take photographs with my camera.

Thought I was lucky to spot and photographed some Java Finch chicks, such as this one:

Last photo: a kind of pigeon, not sure what it is called, sat in front of a woman who was surprised at first and then she slowly got her camera ready for some up-close shots:
